About DESTA:
Based in Little Burgundy and serving participants across Greater Montreal, DESTA is a
community organization that supports Black youth aged 18 to 35 in reaching their educational,
employability, and entrepreneurial goals through a holistic and individualized approach.
The Opportunity:
DESTA is hiring a Fundraising Intern to assist DESTA team members in the documentation,
packaging, and digitization of fundraising initiatives for the organization. The candidate should
have an understanding of and compassion for the challenges our participants face.This position
is 30 hours per week, with an hourly wage of $16 per hour.
Please note that our building is not wheelchair accessible at this time.
Tasks and responsibilities:
● Organize and maintain files for various fundraising initiatives
● Assist with writing and follow-up documentation for funding packages
● Facilitate the migration of files to a database and help to organize database of donors
Successful candidates will possess the following:
● Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
● Empathy, insight, and active listening skills
● Creativity and initiative; ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
● Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask and manage time effectively
● Knowledge of and sensitivity towards issues concerning diverse ethno-cultural and
marginalized communities, and the Black community in particular
Essential Qualifications:
At DESTA, we recognize the value of paid and unpaid work.
● Currently attending school full-time and returning in the fall
● Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French
● Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheets, database, and reporting tools
Additional assets:
● Experience in fundraising, promotions, and database management
● Experience working in a non-profit or community organization
● Knowledge of Little Burgundy and the Southwest (Sud-Ouest)
